Conference Venue Accessibility

The conference venue consists of two locations. Hesterberg Hall and Atrium (Forestry Building) features the main conference, think tank, workshop, installation, and gathering spaces. The ICAD2018 sonification concert will take place in the Rozsa Center’s Dr. James A. and Margaret C. Black Performance Hall. Both buildings are wheel-chair accessible. If you have any other need or inquiry, please contact us at accessibility@icad2018.icad.org and we will try to accommodate you as best as we can.

Open Statement

The open exchange of ideas and the freedom of thought and expression are central to the aims and goals of the ICAD2018 conference. The organizers of ICAD2018, aim and commit to providing a harassment-free, accessible, and pleasant conference experience with equity in rights for all. We want every participant to feel welcome, included, and safe at the conference. Moreover, we will do our best to accommodate specific needs such as accessibility, or dietary requirements. We cannot promise to solve every issue, but will try our best.

We aim to provide a safe, respectful, and harassment-free conference environment for everyone involved regardless of age, sex, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, (dis)ability, physical appearance, race, ethnicity, nationality, marital status, military status, veteran status, religious beliefs, dietary requirements, childbirth- and pregnancy-related medical conditions or childcare requirements. We also respect any other status protected by laws of the country in which the conference or program is being held.

We do not tolerate harassment of conference participants. Harassment includes but is not limited to overt and/or covert acts of:
* Verbal accusations or bullying
* Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following both in person and online
* Harassing photography or recording
* Sustained disruption of talks or other events
* Interference with a person’s participation or opportunity for participation
* Inappropriate physical contact
* Unwelcome sexual attention
* Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behaviour

We expect all interactions between ICAD2018 members to be respectful and constructive, including interactions during the review process, at the conference itself, and on social media. Conference participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the conference (without a refund) at the discretion of the conference organizers. A response that the participant was “just joking,” or “teasing,” or being “playful,” will not be accepted.

Anyone witnessing or subject to unacceptable behavior should notify individual members of the ICAD2018 organizing committee.

Diversity & Inclusion Initiative Workshop

In response to the very interesting ideas discussed during the ICAD 2017 Open Forum on Issues of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, ICAD 2018 will organize a Diversity & Inclusion Initiative Workshop. This will be the first of, what we hope will become, a series of hands-on workshops, on the development of audio-based educational tools and teaching scenarios of activities pertinent to the ICAD domain. These tools will be made available to the community for anyone interested in hosting  outreach events as a means for familiarizing the general public with audio-related research activities pertinent to ICAD. The workshop is open to anyone working on or interested in ICAD-related research and/or education. Participants are encouraged to bring their laptops along with any other hardware or software tools, which they feel could be put into use during this workshop.
